Run, is my first response.  If there is staining, it suggests that there may
be water intrusion into the deck core.  I believe that the NT didn't have teak
decks, so the places for water intrusion are limited (around the fore cabin
hatch, ports, windlass, sampson post, chocks etc).  Even then, if there has
been any water in the deck core, to cause this staining, you really don't want
to deal with it.

Yes, that door would be to an anchor locker.  You need good access to the
anchor rode (rodes) in case of fouling or tangle in the chain.

It is very difficult to get these stains out--sometimes oxylic acid works,
sometimes things like oxy clean (I havn'et had much luck with it)--there is a
stain remover that Joe Chernow sent us which works very well--"Incredible"
available at "Bed Bath and Beyond" or at 1-800-468-7592

Too bad, since the NT is a very nice boat.
