When I cruised the Carribean and Mexico for many years anchoring in sand the
CQR was great but now that we are trawlering up and down the east coast I
found my 60 lb CQR would not hold in the mud. We sold it and bought a 66 lb
spade. I highly recommend this spade over the genuine CQR It's sharp point
penitrates hard or soft bottoms and its scoop shape loads up with the botom
rather than plowing it out of the way. I think practical sailor agrees with me.
Shop around on the web. Defender matched my $800 price I found there.
Just a satisfied custermer. usual disclaimers. BTW I also Have a 50 lb
supermax that I really like to use in soft bottoms.
