T&T: 42 Present and "other" Taiwan boats

I have a 38' Fu Hwa that had the same false bilge.  In re-powering last
year, I took the whole thing out, leaving a 1" ledge where it was glassed to
the hull.  I replaced it with three removable sections, that rest on the
ledges.  However I have left two out, because they seem unnecessary.  The
boat had two bilge pumps, one way forward and the other amidships.  The
false bilge was over the lowest area of the bilge, so water accumulated and
stayed there, getting very rank.  I am moving the forward bilge pump as far
aft as I can in this lowest area.

Does anyone know if Gordon Present (the designer of the Chung Hwa Presents)

still alive and reachable?
If not is there someone knowledgeable about some of the construction?
On my 42' 1985 sundeck trawler we bored a 3" hole in the "false" bilge
bottom
and found a hollow keel with at least 100 gallons of raunchy water.

Bill Present purchased the boats bearing his name fr Chung Hwa Boat Co  in
Taiwan. He was an importer and did not design them. I talked boats with him
for an entire day
 at  the Miami boat show back in the early  80's.

I  have a 45 CHB that is virtually identical to the Presents.

 The water in the keel could be fr a small crack in the keel.  Ck to see if
it
is salt. Taste?
When you  haul the boat if  you see a drip then you have your ans.!!!! By
the
way that fix is not that hard .
If fresh, then it is bilge water. Here you jsut find  the hole where the
water
is getting thru to the keel.
I cut an 8 inch hole in the eng. room deck to inspect.  Put in a plastic
screw
type inspection cover.
