Westerbeke's manual quotes the rate of burn.
When we lived on our trawler and did our 14,000 miles in 03-05 we had a 12kW
Westebeke and I did the same calculations by using Westerbeke's published
rate of 1.4GPH from their manual. In my calculations I dropped that to 1.25
to get actual engine consumption. (Was pleased to get 4.96gph at average
8.2kts out of our twin C 220s over the term.

Subject: T&T: 8KW Westerbeke fuel burn?
I'm doing some long term fuel usage calculations on the Krogen 42. Problem
is that I have engine use mixed with genset use, and would like to back out
the genset use to get the actual engine fuel burn. Here are the numbers so
far since last fill:
Fuel burned: 320 gallons
Engine hours: 149
Genset hours: 44
Nautical miles traveled: 960
Average engine RPM's: 1800
This gives, with combined engine/genset use: about 3 NM/Gallon and 2
gal/engine hr. burned. The actual engine only numbers will be different, but
I have no idea how much fuel the genset burns by itself. The engine is a
Lehman 135. TIA!
