T&T: Separate Invertor Bank

I have a very satisfactory house battery bank arrangement, and do not want  
to alter a good thing.  That said, I am toying with the idea of a  independent, 
separate invertor bank driven by 2, 3, or 4 fork lift batteries  (the very 
tall golf cart battery)  I would use this bank for table lamps,  fans, TV's, 
etc. while at anchor, and would have dedicated 110V outlets for  those purposes.  
I would also like to have the invertor charge the  batteries back when 
connected to shore power or genset, but by "switchable"  choice.
The questions:   Which brand/model invertor is current favorite  of the list? 
 What size is recommended for above purposes?  Any ideas  of how to wire in 
and make switchable so I can choose when to recharge?
