T&T: Ah, the Mystery of Amps!

I have a feeling I am not alone in being unable to follow the
mysteries of splitters and phases which have been unfolding.
Not being an electrical cognoscente does have its advantages, though.
You can without shame ask how many amps you need to run the gadgets on
board, then go out and get them.
For example, we needed 20 amps to run each of the two 120V A/C
systems on board. It seemed logical that a single 30 amp line would
not do it. So the house requirements and one A/C are fed by one 30 amp
line, and a second 30 amp line is provided for the occasions when we
need to run both systems at once. It works just fine.
Of course a single 50 amp line would have done it, but a fellow with
a bad back does not look kindly on those great heavy 50 amp cords.
