I have a Xantrex Prosine 2.5 Inverter installed on my boat with the
standard remote panel that comes with the unit. The panel has stopped
functioning. I have call their support center and the only help they
could provide was either the panel is broken or the inverter unit is
broken and they both are not repairable. The display panel will only
flash standby in charge or invert mode. Yet when AC power is applied to
the inverter it passes the AC through and starts charging the batteries
at 14.2 VDC and after a while goes to float mode voltage of about 13.2
VDC but the AC in LED on the panel will not light nor can you get the
unit to go into inverter mode.
The remote panel passes all of its self tests and I asked if I sent in
the panel if they could test it on one of their working units. I was
told there is no testing available nor do they repair this $2.5K unit.
Xantrex suggested I find some one with a Prosine 2.5 or 3.0 unit and ask
them to plug my panel into the second port on the inverter to test my
display. If the display works then the inverter is defective and it
cannot be repaired and will need to be replaced.
If any one is thinking about an inverter from Xantrex I suggest that you
ask if it is a repairable unit or a through away. I can not believe this
company expects their customer to tolerate this type of service strategy.
I have a Heart Inverter on my other boat and have had it repaired at a
fraction of the replacement cost. Now that Zantrex ahs bought out Heart
I hope I can get it repaired in the future.
My question is there anyone on the site who has a Prosine 2.5 or 3.0 unit
willing to test my control panel? If so please contact me directly at
