T&T: US Charts and Metric Measurements

Whereas depths and heights on US charts may be expressed in  meters in the 
future, I doubt you'll see anything other than inland charts omit  distance 
scales in nautical miles. No other scale makes sense for  navigation, since time 
zones, lat/lon, speed (knots) etc. are based upon  the Earth's diameter, 
expressed in nautical miles.
