My apologies to the folks who get double posts...I keep hitting "reply" which

anchor that way. What a mess it could make, even if it held. I agree: the 90
degree bend is scary weak.
If you need two anchors, then set them bahamian
style or orthogonal. If you need more catenary on a secondary nylon rode,
keep a kellet handy (kellet: a weight, usually around 20lbs, with a snatch
block attached). You can run this down the line of the secondary anchor about
halfway. It will make twists down deep less likely as it pulls the rode down
and out of the way.)
At least it works on sailboats.
