T&T: HIN Imprints

My HIN number is: XSH5218SA606.  The "XSH" indicates the builder, in this
case "Seahorse Marine".  The "5218" indicates that it is a "52" foot vessel,
hull number "18".  I'm not sure what the SA606 indicates but assumed that
the "606" stood for June, 2006 which is the date the vessel was completed.
It was actually finished and I took possession in late May.

The builder installed 2 stainless steel plates with the number stamped on
them.  One is located in the chain locker and the other is mounted on the
port side of my stern (someone told me that it should have been on the
starboard side).  They were installed just before the vessel was put in the
water for the first time.

I hope this does not muddy the issue

The reason this has come up is that we have now found at least one of
the Lord Nelson Victory Tugs that has a hull number that indicates that
hull (number "66") was built in 9/86, while the hull number on "63"
indicates that it was built in 8/87.

Looking at other numbers, it is boat 66 that seems to be out of order
and perhaps should read "09/87".
