Jim,
I have done the same thing with the pure sine wave inverter from
Xantrax, D400. Ran electrical connections to the outlets that support
the TV VCR stuff. Everything else runs off of propane or 12v. This way
you get the benefit of pure sine wave for less cost.

DITTO, except I have thought about locating one of the small inverters
near the batteries and running 120AC lines from it to a few spots. As I
understand powerloss on 12VDC lines is greater than powerloss on 120VAC
lines and increased powerloss means increased battery usage.
