Buehler has apparently confounded two stories. The doctor who advised
drinking small quantities of sea water was Alain Bombard, a French physician
who
crossed the ocean on a rubber raft. The German (whose name slips my memory for
the
moment) paddled across the ocean in Folboat folding kayak. Folboat featured
this adventure in their advertising for many years.
