i ahve a norpro 18, powered by a 4 cyl isuzu... 4 years old, 2300 hours,
great unit. not sure how it compares to the one you're considering but the
18 is easy to service, well put together, great sound shield. the injectors
are self bleeding so after changing filters, it's jsut a matter of turning
the key on for a couple of minutes for the fuel pump to purge air. i once
had to adjust RPM as freq was a a couple of Hz low.. it was easy. voltage
regulation is electronic and easily adjusted too.
only problem to date was a bad oil press switch...the PO botched the
instalation which resulted in water ingestion a couple of years ago... no
vent loop in the water intake which didnt' cause any problem untill i
installed an inverter and stopped using the genny underway. had to pull the
head but thorough flushing with diesel and oil saved the engine (at least
for now)
only downside may be that it's a little harder to get service as they are
not as popular as NL or Wstbk, but they are cheaper and, from my experience,
reliable and easy to work on.
