The Jabsco pump on my 80HP Lehman uses 6-32 screws, if I recall correctly.
A trick I used to ease re-installation of the cover and gasket was to get two long (1" will do) screws, and cut the heads off them. I threaded them into two upper holes on the pump. then slid the gasket and cover over them. The screws hold the cover and gasket in place while I leisurely put in the remaining screws. Once the cover is secure, I replace the cut screws with the proper ones. These cut-off screws can also be used during cover removal, if there is a chance the cover will fall somewhere inaccessible when the last screw is removed.
Allen screws would certainly ease the job as well.
