T&T: Bayonet lamp sockets?

Those socket fail very often due to heat deteriorating the fiber disc 
that contains the contacts.   Fisheries Supply in Seattle has 
replacement sockets but you have to drill the mounting screw hole 
yourself.  What I do is remove the remove the "guts' of the old and 
new sockets, throw away the old, and install the new in the old 
socket.  Ergo, no hole drilling.   Just push the fiber washer 
assembly into the socket a bit and tip it enough that the "ears" of 
the disc retract from the socket slots and them pull the 
disc/contact/wire assembly out the socket.  Of course, all this 
requires you to cut wires and make new splices.   Use care in cutting 
and s[licing.........you will run out of wire on the dome light 
switch or the boat wiring.
