Those socket fail very often due to heat deteriorating the fiber disc
that contains the contacts. Fisheries Supply in Seattle has
replacement sockets but you have to drill the mounting screw hole
yourself. What I do is remove the remove the "guts' of the old and
new sockets, throw away the old, and install the new in the old
socket. Ergo, no hole drilling. Just push the fiber washer
assembly into the socket a bit and tip it enough that the "ears" of
the disc retract from the socket slots and them pull the
disc/contact/wire assembly out the socket. Of course, all this
requires you to cut wires and make new splices. Use care in cutting
and s[licing.........you will run out of wire on the dome light
switch or the boat wiring.
