Hi Phil:

Yes multiplying AC amps by ten is a reasonable approximation of DC amps to 
drive an inverter. But AC compressors are generally much less efficient than 
DC compressors. Our Norcold unit, also about 4-5 cu ft, draws 3-4 amps DC at 
a 50% duty cycle to keep it cold. The same unit in AC will draw at least 
twice as much watts.

But a small AC refrigerator, with a low power dedicated inverter is 
certainly a cheaper alternative.
