We have these, made by Ocean Marine. One thing to consider is the concept of static vs dynamic loads.
You get the first in calm water and it amounts to the weight of the dinghy and its motor. You get the latter when your vessel is rolling around in heavy seas.
I worry a lot when we traverse the New Jersey coast, so much that we wait for calm days. I prob would worry a lot more plying the PNW.
