Go to the Marine-Sat site on the web
(http://www.geosatsolutions.com/Marine-Sat.htm), which is GeoSat Solutions
of Hollywood, FL. For $179 they will sell you their Maine-Sat Lite Kit
which includes a "marinized" direct TV dish,a C-clamp mount that fits on any
railing, a "manual satellite finder" which gets you to the right elevation
angle, a little compass with a rotating bezel that lists all the major
cities in the world, and a web site address for looking up the proper
elevation angle and compass setting for any city. You supply your own
DirectTV boxes; and for about $5 a month DirectTV allows you to add your
boat set to your home account. These gizmos will get you the approximate
setting in less than a minute, after which you "follow the beeps." The
clamp seems to be immune to vibration on my fast trawler and for the past
few months (knock on fiberglass), when I come back to my slip the 2 TVs on
board work perfectly and the dish doesn't need redirecting. I'm very
satisfied with the system.

PS What I did was upgrade my home system to include 2 DirectTV Tivo boxes,
and bring the 2 original boxes to my boat.
