T&T: 12 or 12/110?

As mentioned eariler, Im installing a NovaKool freezer.  The installation location already has 110v a/c wired to it, and Ill be adding 12v dc.  So the question is, should I spend an extra few hundred bucks and get the freezer that is both 12 and 110 volts?  The unit currently on order is 12v only.  I believe it can easily be modified.  The advice I got from a few people was to use a 12v system and not add the complexity of 110v.  Since the location already has 110 it seems silly not to use it?  Thanks for your thoughts,
