This is a link to the Canadian TSB marine accident reports , some any way. I
find there are some things to be learned from others mistakes. Instead of just
mine.

I find it interesting that society today seems to base laws or rules that we
must follow from stats taken on the stuff thats gone wrong.

Why is it stats are not kept for the things that do go rite.

Like how many times high water alarms have saved a life ( or why are they not
mandatory for some pleasure vessels ). Or the bucks the fire pump I have has
saved others. ( or why is there no discount from insurance companies for
having such equipment even a tax break for safety equipment like this stuff ).

Live aboards are a prime example where the stats kept give a poor picture of
us. Yet the cash I have saved insurance companies, private citizens is in the
100`s of thousands of dollars. Simply because I was walking down the dock to
go home.

No reports just a good day and off we all go. So close to danger or being a
stat but it ends all good.

So unless there is cash involved to be paid out no one seems to care, bother ?

Would boating be safer if these kinda stats where available? Would any of us
actualy report the good stuff?

Sorry for the rant < grin >.

Willy
