Mike,

Nigel Calder (the cruising fix-it guru)  wrote a pretty good book 
devoted to marine refrigeration which is applicable to air conditioning 
as well. I doubt that it is still in print but you should be able to 
find a copy on Amazon. There is also very useful how-to and technical 
information in the Cruiseair manuals. With these reference sources, the 
proper tools and equipment and the help of a knowledgeable but 
non-professional friend I was able to diagnose and recharge my Cruiseairs.
