For sale: 1986 Krogen 42, hull #99
If you want a "fixer-upper", this boat is NOT for you. She's been completely
refurbished and is ready to reliably take her new owners cruising. With her
single Lehman 135, she gets about 4 nautical miles per gallon of diesel, and
with 700 gallons fuel capacity in two tanks, you can pick and choose when
you fill up. An 8 KW Westerbeke generator gives you reliable and quiet 110V
power when you need it. However, with cold plate refrigeration from Rich
Beers and propane cooking, you don't need much of that 110V power. 12V
outlets around the boat with portable inverters provide power for 110V items
without the genset running. A 24V Wesmar bow thruster installed in 2003
makes maneuvering a snap.
Two 16,000 btu air conditioners/heaters provide excellent climate control
year-round. Both have digital controllers and one is a Mermaid, installed
around 2002. The boat has two heads, and the sanitation system was
completely replaced in 2003. It has two new Raritan PHII manual toilets with
seawater flush, all new hoses, a Ronco holding tank and Sealand diaphragm
overboard pump.
If you're worried about the blistering that occurs in older Krogens, don't.
This hull was professionally peeled and "dried" using the HotVac system. It
was then relaminated, barrier coated and painted. You should never have to
worry about a blister again. At the same time, all thru-hulls were replaced
with new Groco models that never require lubrication. She also has hinged
screens outside that can be opened for cleanout if necessary.
Almost all the electronics on the boat are relatively new. Original
equipment includes the autopilot, compass, depth sounder and loran. She has
a new VHF with dual station mike up top, new Raymarine radar, new Garmin
GPS, new Icom M-802 SSB with a Pactor modem, and a marinized computer
navigation system with a daylight viewable monitor running Nobeltec's Visual
Navigation Suite. A new Alpine stereo with a 100 watt amp and Bose speakers
throughout provide excellent sound when you want it.
The galley has a three burner propane stove/oven, microwave and custom cold
plate refrigeration. This refrigerator/freezer combination will keep food
cold for 48 hours without power if the doors are left shut. Lots of storage
space and compartments make organization a cinch. The main saloon has a very
comfortable leather couch that also folds out into a bed for guests, a teak
fold-up table with four folding chairs inside, and two wicker chairs. There
is a flat-screen TV as well as interior fishing rod storage racks.
The main sleeping cabin has the berth on the starboard side, with a custom
marine pillow top mattress that's more comfortable than my bed at home!
Custom cover and pillow shams are included. The guest cabin can sleep two,
and has a fold down Pullman berth, and the watch berth slides out to
accommodate two as well. Add in the main saloon couch folded out into a bed,
and you can sleep 8 on board, if you really want that many guests!
The anchoring system includes two complete anchor setups on the bow, ready
to go. The primary is 200' of 3/8" BBB chain with a steel Spade S-120,
backed up with another 100' of 5/8 nylon which is new. The secondary anchor
is a Fortress FX-23 with 40' of 3/8 BBB chain followed by 300' of 5/8"
nylon, also new. An Ideal vertical windlass makes handling all this very
easy, and the extensive anchor inventory on board allows you to anchor in
any bottom conditions.
There are two banks of AGM batteries maintained by a new Newmar 3 stage
"smart" charger. This setup is maintenance free and very reliable. The
batteries have been on a pulse conditioner (de-sulphator) since new. The
alternator on the main engine is also new.
There is an extensive spare parts inventory on board. A complete long-range
cruising kit from American Diesel is provided for the Lehman. This includes
every part you might need to keep it running, including spare starter,
alternator, injectors, injector pipes, etc. There is also an extensive
spares inventory for the genset, and every other system on board. The
on-board fuel polishing system keeps your diesel clean, even when you're not
cruising all the time.
Every piece of rubber on the engine and genset have been replaced. hoses,
belts, impellers, etc. There is a Speed-Seal on the impeller for the main
engine, making impeller changes quick and easy. All hoses from thru-hulls
have been replaced with new wire reinforced hose.
The exterior teak has been finished with Signature Finish's Honey Teak, and
is absolutely stunning. This boat has been featured in various articles and
books, including "Living Aboard" and "Classic Yacht Magazine Online". This
is an opportunity to own a boat that is truly meant for long range cruising,
and is ready to do so without extensive refitting. Asking price: $265,000,
ready to cruise! Contact Keith at keith at anastasia3.com, or call me at
832-274-5500. NO BROKERS. Boat is located in League City, TX, just south of
Houston.
