BST: Marina overcharges on repairs, refuses to honor estimate

I sat here reading the ridiculously sanctimonious reply by someone that this
is not the forum to discuss what happens when a boatyard charges beyond an
estimated amount without any prior alert. This is absolutely a forum for
this kind of question and as a listee of many years (who posts infrequently)
I need to respond to that person. This list has to do with all kinds of
issues that can come up when you are buying, selling or trading as well as
having work done on a boat you may buy or are buying in a boatyard. New
buyers might not know what kind of trouble you can get into when you entrust
your boat to the yard and those costs they can charge you. The terms of the
work may list what the boatyard owner can and will do as well as what
protections we have in this state are good information for people to know
and use. There is no reason to repress that here.

My unsollicited advice to the people who want to eliminate these kinds of
questions is to simply delete the messages and stop bothering normal people
with their absurd limitations and keep still.
