Historically the production of each binding type, hardcover/softcover,
perfect or saddle stitched was a major undertaking. If you examine the 
web storefront, you will see that 4 different bindings are available. 
Once the first style is created, the effort to setup each additional one 
is about 30 minutes worth of time.

This is a pretty dramatic development in book publishing. Instead of 
having to guess which binding buyers will want and sellers having to 
print and stock, generally only one; now buyers can have the content in 
many different styles. Books can be printed and mailed one at a time; 
with print production taking generally 1-3 days for Softcover and about 
a week for Hardcover.

The added cost for this level of variety in bindings is virtually zero.

I have had copies to examine of the Perfect bound versions and the 
paper, printing, binding and overall quality have been to be very good. 
These are not comic books. The paper is a bright white, semi gloss, 60 
pound material. Computer printer paper is usually about 20 pound; the 
book paper is about 50% thicker as the extra weight is in the coating 
and finish, just like most quality books. If I didn't think the quality 
was up to standards, I wouldn't put my name on it.

In case it has not been obvious, the books have over 10 pages of tables 
and information concerning State Sales, Use, Property taxes and 
registration issues.
