For a "six-pack", don't you have to certify that you have 300 days at sea?
(not just as a live-a-board)

There is nothing-absolutely nothing-half as much worth doing as simply
messing about in boats-Kenneth Grahame - from "The Wind in the Willows", ch.
1, Pg 7, 1908 edition.

To qualify for an Ocean Master ("Operator" now obsolete) you must show time
served on vessels of at least 50GT and pass a much more advanced test.
For those who just want to have some type license so they can call
themselves Captain will find it much easier to apply for the Uninspected
Passenger Vessel (6-pack) License.
For everyones information; Every License holder must now apply for and
receive a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card
issued by the TSA. This is not just for commecial mariners and dock workers,
it includes everyone who holds a USCG License!! 6-packers not exempted!!
This includes a thorough background check!!
To all a Happy Holiday!!!
