Steve, you will save money if you do not have the boat hauled every year. Have a diver go down and replace the Zincs when you feel they need it....about once a year in Elliott Bay. Runs about $70.00. Painting? Probably at 2 year intervals, maybe 3 if you have a good morrage location.

We had our 26' bottom painted in November 2005 with Blue Water copper shield SCX 45. After one year we hauled it to pressure wash the bottom and replace the zincs. At that time the paint still looked new and washing really wasn't necessary. The paint was still in pretty good shape after two years. Now at the three and a half year mark I need to have the boat hauled again for an insurance survey. I'm planning to have it repainted with the same paint, although it's possible it could go even longer.

I am a new Nordic Tug owner. I purchased at 32 NT June, 08 and the bottom needs to be painted. I looked at the list serve and most people seem to use Micron CSC. I called Cap Sante , in Anacortes and they said one coat would be sufficient. They also gave me a choice of Micron CSC or Interlux Micron Extra for about $100.00 more.
I also called Nordic who recommended one coat if using the Extra, but two with the Micron CSC. They indicated that they like to have their owners haul once a year for general maintenance.
So, my question for today is “one or two coats and which paint”?? Also, what else should I be looking at/doing when she is out of the water. Thanks so much.
