A lot of good information. I am a MAC user, so I will go with Mac ENC.

My question is, being that I have '90's vintage electronics should I  
purchase the small USB GPS they suggest instead of trying to  
messaround with cable adapters.

I suppose the GPS tech has also improved since the dark ages.
