It looks like you are getting lots of things to check so I'll add another
to your list.

Are the temperature and speed ok?

As has been mentioned previously turbulence is a likely culprit. Perhaps
there is a tuft of growth just ahead of, or on the the transducer causing
this. Usually bottom paint is not put on the transducer. Perhaps you can
lie on the dock and give it a wipe with a deck brush.

I got an underwater video camera on ebay a couple of years ago that is
really handy for checking that sort of thing.
