[Sentoa] Sentoa Digest, Vol 73, Issue 14

What version are you running?? If it is below 4.3 you probably need to down load the most recent version (can be done from Raytheon website) as older versions have problems recognizing the new satellites that replaced the ones that were de-commissioned by US govt last Summer

 Thanks for your response!

I don't know the version and, unfortunately, I won't be back onboard until next week. I'm not sure there is even a port for me to use to update the software.? I spoke to a local electronics tech yesterday afternoon.? He said that the antenna sensors have a life of 10-12 years.? He seemed to be very familiar with the system.? The electronics were installed in 1998 at NT/Skipper Cress.?

The electronics tech suggested replacing the old units with a Furuno 32 and antenna. It seems to make sense to go for newer technology.

Re Anchoring

Dear Terry,

Suggest putting out a stern anchor is rarely worth the hassle.?I have never used in more than 20years of anchoring?up and down the Pacific North West.?Bow anchor nearly always suffices.? If swinging room is an issue I would use a stern tie if that is a possibility.

Hello Dick, I have I think is a great idea for our Rendezvous for 2010

GREENPORT - MITCHEL'S MARINA - Would love to have us at a very very special rate

Midweek rate of $2.00/ft.for first 3 nights, plus 4 th nite free. Plus deck to

use.

The Loft Rest. upstairs that passagemker used is available at reasonable pricing

for meals

Your Thoughts Dick ???

We at Wilde Yacht Sales think it might be a nice change and enable more Tuggers

to come, because no one likes the local pricing for Dockage

Thanks

Ben

The Raytheon NAV398 unit, which was installed when I bought the boat, can't get

a satellite fix.? The device is linked to a Raystar 112 GPS Sensor.? I've done a

cold restart and re-entered the correctlat and lon as well as date and time. The

NAV398 self test indicates that the sensor is working.? All connections seem to

be tight and there is power tothe unit.?

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I'll chime in right now and endorse Greenport and Mitchell Marina in particular

as an excellent choice for 2010. The combination of location, price and

amenities is hard to beat. We make it a habit to stop by every year and never

seem to tire of the excellent cruising in LI's "fishtail".

We have not, and we do not plan to motor our tug at night.? We usually run yacht

club to yacht club, marina to marina, or if it is starting to get dark, we

anchor before sunset.

When anchoring, do you tend to use bow anchor only or bow and stern? What

size stern anchor and rode do you use for a 37'?
