[Sentoa] Rudder seal

I discovered the same problem on our Tug. I found that they used two
different methods on the seal. One is a packing gland while the other
is a lip seal. The gland can be tightened but the lip seal must be
replaced. However, there is another problem. As I understand it, the
way it is designed, there is a problem with oxygen depravation in that
area that results in erosion of the rudder shaft. I have tried to
fill these areas with metal filler, with some success. I just have to
accept the small drip, as a permanent fix would involve quite an
expense.
I too would appreciate any help with the problem.
