Doug,
There are several very effective line cutters and they certainly will cut lines to the lobster pots. The problem is it is very harmful to the Maine Lobstermen as it severely cuts into their lively hood. Each lobster line that has been cut cost the lobsterman over $100 in his operating profit. All Nordic Tugs have a skeg and with just a little caution most lines can be avoided. If one stays on the lee side of the line you will miss most them. Also there is a new law in Maine that requires all lobster lines to be a non floating type which should help the situation. There have been cases where boats with these cutters intentionally cut the lobster lines. This is not a way to be very popular with the Maine lobsterman.
