[Sentoa] Rudder Bolts

Anthony,
About a month ago my diver said that the rudder was loose. He said that on
top of the rudder there was a two piece horizontal ring that held the rudder
up under the boat and the bolts were gone so the rudder was flopping around
under there. That made sense because that last time I had the boat out it
seemed harder than normal to steer.
Anyway we scrounged up some bolts and filled the holes in case I had to move
it before I could call the factory and find out what size the original bolts
were. The call to NT was useless. One guy remembered that there was a ring
with bolts and another guy said that there was no ring. The guy that said that
there was a ring couldn't tell me what size bolts to buy because the records
for my boat were not to be found. He guessed 1/2 x 1 3/4. The other guy
said to haul the boat if I wanted to know what was under it. But since I have
not had good luck with him before I ignored his flippant suggestion.
I didn't need a haul out so I went to the hardware store and bought a whole
bunch of different size bolts in anticipation of the diver's return today for
his monthly visit. The factory's guess didn't work but the back up bolts,
washers, and nuts did (3/8 x 1 /34). So I am no longer rudderless.

For those of you with a similar vintage tug...
The rudder bolt saga is solved. The diver came today and put in three 3/8 x
1 3/4 bolts in the two piece ring that sits on the top of my rudder. 1/2 inch
bolts were too fat.
