Jerry (and others),

The spiders are driving me nuts!  I am now using "Terro" spider killer, an 
aerosol spray, and have found it very effective.  The spiders flee their 
hiding places and drop graveyard dead onto the deck.  A nice feature is the 
spray tube (similar to WD-40) which allows me to direct the spray into tight 
spaces.  Several boat owners at my marina have been using Terro for some 
time and swear by it.  The product is manufactured by Senoret Chemical Co.of 
St. Louis; web site is terro.com

I buy the spray cans at my local Lowe's store, and stock-up whenever I can 
find it.  Seems to be a "best seller" here in Eastern North Carolina.
