[Sentoa] Pac NW Bottom Paint: 1 Coat or 2

Thanks everyone for the comments. Certainly 2 coats seems to be the
norm, and we all seem to be using similar paints. I was curious about
Doug's comment about cleaning the bottom every three months. Doug, was
this with the ablative paint? I've been under the impression that you
didn't want to have the divers clean the bottom as the paint would come
off quite easily...

We have Scout moored in Everett and usually have it hauled to change
zincs and pressure wash once a year. We last had it bottom painted three
years ago with Blue Water Copper Shield SCX45 Ablative paint. I expect
it will need to be repainted soon, but feel it has done a good job.
After the first year, it didn't really even need a pressure wash.

We are hauling our 37 next month for bottom paint. We used Micron CSC
Extra last time, but I was really unhappy with the slime growth within a
month or 2 of being back in the water. Typically our yard has only
used 1 coat of paint, with a second coat around the waterline. Also,
within 18 months, the growth was substantial and I'm sure I was dragging
pretty hard as my WOT speed was down 2 knots.

The question is, what are other PNW tugs using for bottom paint, how
many coats, and how often are you hauling.

Thanks,
