Jeff-
I think you're onto part of the solution with the charcoal filter on the 
vent line.  Might also want to try some of the bio waste tank treatment and 
let the critters work on it while you're away from the boat.  We've never 
had the slightest whiff of waste tank odor but it may be a little like BO, 
we wouldn't know about it unless someone is brave enough to give us the bad 
news.  Good luck.  Would like to hear if you are successful in overcoming 
the problem.
