Elliot,

Thanks for all the info. Very tempting. Unfortunately, I suspect my  
larger and older Marine-Airre unit is not so efficient. If I ever have  
to replace it, I will go back and do the homework. Sounds like  
installation is not so simple, but also not necessarily so hard  
either. Are these golf-cart sized batteries?

Also, can I ask how well your unit cools the pilothouse? Mine keeps  
the forward cabin (vented) and head (vented) pretty cool, the salon  
(vented) comfortable, but the pilothouse (unvented) still stays a bit  
warm during the day (even with windows covered). Of course, every day  
is in the 90's here during the Summer.
