thanks for the information, I'll check out those other web sites. now I'm thinking I'm really over propped, mine is 22 x 16 4 blade on an 1 1/2 shaft?there is 2.0 reduction.?? thanks again

I'm working on sizing one right now.? I am repowering to a 75 Hp Volvo (D2-75) with a 2.27 reduction.?

For the record,?my previous prop was a 18x11 3blade RH powered by 50hp with 2.1 reduction.? It was overpropped.

There are different prop calculators out there.? Boat diesel has one (members only)? there is an excel?speadsheet from "surfbaud" and there is "propcalc" from "castle marine", these can all be found with Google.

The prop calcs tell me I need a 20 x 15 or a 19 x 16.? I'd like to stay with a 18 (easier to find with a 1.25" shaft.) and so I'm leaning towards purchasing a slightly used Michigan wheel in a 18 x 17 3B and repitch my 18 x 11 3B.

I have also wrestled with Dave Gerr's propeller handbook.? A great resource.

?

I've also been in touch with Nordic Tug and they are looking up some old files to see what came on a factory tug with 75 Hp.

?

One list member has the same engine installed reported has a 18 x12 3 blade, but has been unavailable to get me the details (on vacation).? I found another owner with the same engine in WA last week and he is running a 17 x 16 3 blade.

?

The biggest problem is the S/L ratio to use for a semi-displacement hull.
