[Sentoa] Forward Compartment water leak NT 32

Our 32 experienced a severe leak at the headliner running down the walls – an utter mess. The problem as Bob Bevins indicates is that the original way that items such as the windlass were installed, weren’t done correctly. In fact, we had to tear out the rotted plywood, reglass everything, replace the headliner and wall material and re-bed the anchor windlass platform. It wasn’t pretty or cheap. The boat was circa 1994 and we discovered this about 7 years later after seeking the cause of smaller leaks over the years.

In our case the was a built-up windlass platform with a hole through the deck for the wiring. This was the source of the problem. If you can get in there and check for moisture/wetness by following the wiring, it might give you a clue if this is a problem in your case.

If you can find the true source of the problem and correct it now, the cost will be much less.

Subject: [Sentoa] Forward Compartment water leak NT 32

I have NT 32-115 Sea Rhythm. We have ahad a problem with a water leak on the starboard side wall in the forward compartment. The headliner comes up wet and the mattress gets wet at times. After talking to NT for help I resealed the forward and starboard portholes as instructed. This didn't help. A local boat yard just took off the forward railings, cleaned the screw holes and reseated the railings. We have just had two days of heavy rain in Solomons and again the headline is really wet.

My question is has anyone else had this problem and how did you get it fixed. Usually the first place wet is the headliner on the forward starboard bulkhead just before the wall with the head.

A second question is the ETM for the engine is on the Tach and has stopped working. Has anyone had any luck with this problem in finding a replacement tach with an ETM integrated?

This is my first request for help since signing up a month or two ago. I enjoy the information which is flowing and also hope someone can help me.
