Hi, Steve. In answer to your question, I always do the fuel polishing at the dock. The primary reason is that the procedure needs to be monitored (I feel) and it takes several hours to polish a tank of fuel. I have two such tanks. Also, my installation calls for me to open & close fuel valves so that I am pumping from one tank and putting the polished fuel back into that tank. I can't imagine doing all of that while underway. One thing that you want to be sure of is to not pump into the wrong tank and overflow it. Each installation can be very different. Mine was designed (by me) for maximum flexibility, but tight security to prevent mistakes such as the one cited above. Hope this helps!
