Thanks everyone for their ideas. Seems like how you use the boat
power-wise tends to drive the purchase. It'll be a few months till we
get going, but I appreciate all the input.

We had a Spectra Watermaker on our last boat and the water was so pure
we washed our windows with our fresh water washdown and NO spots as it
dried. Even after 2 years our TDS was less than 90 ppm.

We installed a Spectra DC watermaker on hokulele. Our reasons for
choosing the Spectra was because it is in fact a DC watermaker that uses
a Clark pump and results in lower draw than traditional watermakers.
Hokulele lives on a mooring buoy and is a DC boat. We have a DC
generator on board that keeps the batteries topped off (unattended). We
do not use any dock water (don't normally have access to it). Ours
produces 13 gallons per hour which may or may not be sufficient for your
use.

David,

We've had a Village Marine Tec unit aboard since our boat was new
(2003), and we're totally pleased with it. I've gotten to where I
actually try to avoid filling my tanks with dock water. Give me a call
at 360-661-2552 or email me at jim at skippercress.com for more details if
you like. Cruise happy!

We installed the Village Marine and love it. We have a 9 KW generator.
Not aware of a brand that runs off the engine. we also have 4 golf cart
batteries for the house bank.

We are considering adding a watermaker to our boat this winter.
I was wondering what the consensus was among this group about both
brands and power methods. We have a 5kw genset which can handle it,
along with the typical golf cart house batteries (4 of them). I've
also heard some of you have set them up to run off the engine.

	Thanks,
