We ordered the window today from Nashville Glass. It should be ready Monday, but they don't have the gasket there. We were not able to find that today, so I'm hoping the glass company that will install the window will carry it. I sure hope they don't break it while putting it in. I'll make a note of the part number you supplied from CR Lawrence Co in case I need to order the gasket myself. Thanks for your help and I'll sure let ya know how the installation process goes! Just out of curiosity, what is the price of the windows from Diamond Sea Glaze?

Lynn,
Last year we replaced the panelling and windows in the salon. The yard broke three (3!) new windows in the process of trying to install them. In order to replace these windows using the original rubber gasket system (recommend getting new gasketing - it is readily available), they have to be fit tight, and this posses a major problem. If I had it to do over (certainly when I replace the pilothouse windows), I'll go to the Diamond Glaze aluminum frame windows which are more common now.

When I replaced all of our window gaskets on our tug, I broke one too. I replaced it with one that a local glass shop custom cut for me. Cutting safety glass is an art. They score the glass then put alcohol on it to dissolve the plastic in between the two sheets of glass, then start the breaking off process.
As for the gasket, the glass shop ordered the gasket (C.R. Lawrence Co, part number #AS-1708). At that time it only came in 50' boxes.
When you put in the new gasket, heating it up in boiling water first softens it up enough to work with. If you can find a glass mechanic to do it for you, that is a much better way to go. I had a tough time replacing mine and would have gladly paid someone if I could have found them at the time.
Good luck

Well, as luck would have it - We had to take out the window next to the pilothouse door to run the wiring for the radar and GPS and when we went to put it back in - it broke. Does anyone know of any reason why we couldn't just have auto glass cut to size, and replace the rubber molding and have a glass man install it as opposed to ordering a new window from whoever carries windows for a 1984 26'??? Appreciate any help.
