Mike--Suprised by only 5000 hrs. on a BMW. We had three times that on
a 50hp BMW in a Swan when we sold it.The owner says it still works
well. Our 26 has the 100hp Yanmar-which has been entirely
satisfactory. We usually run about 8 mph @ 2400 rpm which takes
roughly 1.3 gph.WOT is 3600 rpm and 11.5 mph which is sometimes very
nice to have available. My only beef with the engine is that its
cooling system is just barely adequate at top rpms. Someone had way
over-proped ours. When we installed a less aggressive prop, the
problem was solved. I have seen Yanmars with truly impressive hours
that performed well. Pete Bradshaw,26141, Retta J, Lake Norman, NC
