Garry,
My cat has a 35' hull and it starts to really lose efficiency at around 9
kts. 7 is much better. I would expect a slower boat to start sucking fuel
at maybe 8.5 kts. My cat planes, but when I'm not in a hurry it sips fuel
at 8 kts. I'm planning to add an autopilot for slow running (hand steering
is just too mind-numbing...I have to push the throttles down after an hour
or two.

And by all means, I'll trade you seafood trips. Halibut & salmon, sure, but
don't forget king crab and prawns.
