[PCW] A Power catamaran

As designer of the MC 29, and having been on board the MC30 a few times I
can comment.

The MC 30 is descended from a sailing cat and has a low profile with an open
sailboat style cockpit. The interior space is broken up and standing
headroom is found only in the hulls. However it is very fuel efficient and
offers a good ride. Only outboard power is available.

The MC29 is a newer design and was intended to be a competitor for
monohulls. It offers an interior layout similar to monohulls of the same
size, and can be fitted with twin outboards or a single central diesel.
Steering is from inside. Fuel efficiency is still at least twice as good as
most monohulls, but perhaps not quite as good as the MC30. The narrower beam
makes her legally trailerable, although she looks huge on the trailer!

Can someone who has been on both the motorcat 29 and 30 talk about the
differences. They seem quite different boats - a bit unusual to have two
similar sized boats from the same manufacturer - I would imagine they were
designed for different purposes.

Thanks
