[PCW] beaching

I'm aware of one of the endeavour 44 owners who has beached his boat
for its annual wax.

On a related matter, I've found that the protected running gear on
these boats has been good for our piece of mind.
Last Summer we overnighted en route on the inside passage up the
Keys. The wind was honking and a couple of monos were anchored in
8ft, about half a mile from the Island. They were being tossed
around. We crept in to about 300 yards of the beach in 4 1/2 feet
which put is out of the swell. I dived down to check we were not in
danger of snagging the surrounding coral and we had adequate
clearance. If we had running gear hanging below I would not have
slept as easily.

A few days later I caught the port stern corner on a narrow section of
the ICW, again no drama and I was glad to have protected props. A
couple of the other owners of our model have depth sounders in each
hull (18 feet apart remember) and I think thats a prudent measure
which we will have fitted if we head to the Bahamas later this year.

The downside of course will be efficiency of the hulls, but new props
buy a lot of diesel.

regards Jonah.
