[PCW] A different power cat, Gold Coast

While the 104' was a disaster, Gold Coast's smaller boats have been
exceptionally successful. There is a 65 that has run from St.
Maarten to Saba for something like twelve or thirteen years with a
sistership in service half that long, a horrendously rough trip most
of the time; three forty something footers in use in Virgin Gorda
daily for over ten years; three in use in Redhook at Per Dohm's water
taxi service for fifteen years.

I delivered the second of Per's boats in 1993 from Gold Coast in St.
Croix to Redhook, very nice ride in what was typical conditions for
that passage. The boats ride well and are popular with the passengers.

Gold Coast has a long history of building reliable and profitable day
charter cats, both sail and power. The 104 may have been ill
conceived, but I have no hesitation recommending any of their other
boats.
