At the recent Trawler Fest boat show in Stuart I noted the CS42 power cat
appears to be back in production. This was an interesting 42-foot power cat
that was developed by CS yachts in Canada several years ago. One was built
and sold, then production ceased. At the Trawlerfest, I was told the owner
of CS yachts had to deal with serious personal issues and stopped production
for several years. Now the company wishes to re-start production. The basic
design is attractive and offers a possible alternative to the PDQ 41,
Endeavour 40/44, Manta 44, Maine Cat P47 and Africat 42.
I'm not sure how to contact CS Yachts - perhaps the company would show up on
a Google search.
I recently received an e-mail from Maine Cats with drawings, specifications
and pricing on the new P47 powercat. It appears to be a very efficient
design, and much better looking than many powercats. I believe the company
expects to have the first model afloat sometime this summer.
Another interesting new powercat is the 37-footer developed by Nautic Blue
charters. The company is trying to interest people in buying them and
putting them into charter, but I imagine they would sell them outright as
well. This new 37-footer will replace the Fontaine Pajot 37-foot powercats
they still have in their charter fleets. Although the new 37-footer was
designed for charter use, the layout appears very well suited to personal
cruising use.
Good to see new powercats on the market.
