[PCW] South African quality (or not)

One of my few posts to this list was made a couple of weeks ago after I  
spied a nice-looking Africat power cat here in Grenada. I was surprised that no  
one commented, and when I told a good friend, who has sailed his non-charter  
Lagoon 37 for over a decade, he said, "I'm not surprised, I'd never buy a boat  
that was built in South Africa. Everything built there is cheaply made."
 
We have seen some astounding examples of that in S.A. sailing cats but  
surely there must be some quality builders?
