It's just a guesstimate method, Malcolm, of arriving at a ballpark 
number. $10 to $15 per pound is probably more in line with monohull 
costs. As Tim Askins suggests, $15 to $20 may be more appropriate for 
power catamarans built for cruising and living aboard--and $25 would 
not be outlandish.

But let me repeat, this is just a guesstimate approach to determining 
cost of production and custom yachts. Do-it-yourselfers will of 
course spend less.
