Yes I am aware of these outboards but the last time I looked at them , the
largest was only 75 HP and VERY heavy for it's power level!There is another
company that makes a diesel outboard pod, essentially a normal engine in a
waterproof pod that is bolted onto the back of the transom, but the prop is
essentially fixed. I think the outfit comes from Florida!! As I recall there
was a Cat used on a movie set in OZ that had these fitted!
The industry needs a breakthrough in engine technology such as perhaps the
proposed Axial Vector Engine which is claimed to have an exceptional power
to weight ratio!!
Maybe the growth of the diesel car in the States will finally drive this
development!
